It was concurrently vital for the home to accommodate one level and accessible design for aging in place as well as being durable and sustainable for the High Desert climate here in Central Oregon, so we worked closely with the homeowners to get everything just right. These homeowners had an ambitious list of goals when they set out to design their custom built home in Bend a few years ago. Undoubtedly, like all prospective homeowners, they envisioned themselves living in a comfortable and beautiful home. But they also wanted to build a home that would be self-sustaining in terms of a renewable energy design (a Net Zero energy home), where they could live independently, indefinitely. Basically, they were a perfect fit to build their home with Solaire Homebuilders.

A Net Zero energy home is not just a “green home” or a home with solar panels. A Net Zero energy home combines advanced design and superior building systems with energy efficiency and on-site solar panels to produce a better home. Net Zero energy homes are ultra-comfortable, healthier, quieter, sustainable homes that are more affordable to live in than a conventionally built home. From move-in day and for as long as you own the home, the total cost of living in a Net Zero energy home is significantly lower than that of a comparable standard home. For peace of mind for our homeowners, each Solaire built home is independently tested and certified by Earth Advantage. This third party home certification process holds us to a higher standard and requires far more inspections than standard code built homes and protects homeowners from “green washing,” we do not self certifiy.

In collaboration with our designers, every inch of this Northwest Prairie style home is ingeniously designed using natural light, sight lines, and personal touches to create easy transitions between spaces. Consequently, this single level, open concept design is light and bright with ample windows, white walls and light wood floors that are both durable and sustainable. Additionally, the Northwest Prairie style of this home is a timeless design here in Bend.

Subsequently, we listened closely to our clients’ wishes to deliver a well-designed and carefully built home that incorporates all their needs and wants in the finished product – a legacy home they can live in for many, many more years.
