Northwest Craftsman Style Home

Location: Bend, Oregon

It’s not every day that we get to design a build a beautiful legacy home like this for the retiring President of our local community college. Working closely with our designer and overseeing the construction of this Earth Advantage Platinum home, we were able to focus on the homeowner’s priorities of a healthy, eco-friendly, and durable forever home.

2297 sq. feet
3 bedrooms
2 baths

The Three Pines neighborhood is a quiet and welcoming woodland setting just west of Bend. The neighborhood backs up to community green space and is just a short walk on trails or a paved path to 652 acres of Shevlin Park. This amazing park has a river running through it and an extensive trails system popular for local hikers, mountain bikers, dog walkers and joggers.

Located on a tight lot in the Three Pines subdivision in Northwest Bend, we had the challenge of a very limited backyard space, so we incorporated an expansive patio for front yard entertaining and outdoor living space that doesn’t compromise on privacy but takes advantage of the ample sunshine here in High Desert of the Pacific Northwest.

This 2, 297 SQ FT home built in 2019, features one level living for aging in place. The beautiful mix of durable gray and charcoal siding with black Anderson 100 Series windows are timeless. The front of the home has a mix of elevations for architectural interest and maximum efficient use of interior space. The staggered walls form a horseshoe shape around the expansive front yard patio providing a natural buffer from next door neighbors. The homeowners selected an upgraded 50-year roofing system to reduce waste and increase longevity. This is an Earth Advantage Platinum certified home with the standard Solaire green homebuilding features include: 6” staggered stud walls, Energy Recovery Ventilation system (ERV), ductless mini-split HVAC system, low VOC finishes and energy efficient windows.

The home features custom cabinetry throughout the home’s gourmet kitchen, entertainment area in the living room and two bathrooms. This kitchen is not white! The cabinets feature a beautiful neutral wood finish that adds warmth to the family’s gathering space. Gourmet kitchen features include contemporary custom cabinetry, tile backsplash, 30” range with bake drawer, undermount stainless farm sink, large stainless exhaust hood, undercounter microwave, 4 door stainless steel refrigerator, quartz countertops and a free-standing island with ample storage and natural light. The curbless shower acomodates for zero entry in the luxurious primary bathroom allows the owners to age in place gracefully.

The vaulted ceiling and clearstory windows in the family room bring in tons of natural light and emphasize the showpiece stacked stone fireplace. Space planning in this three bedroom home included room for the owner’s baby grand piano to blend into the family room seamlessly. Engineered hardwood floors throughout the home reduce dust mites and dander and provide a durable, long wearing finish. Xeriscaping and extensive hardscape in the landscaping reduce water usage and improve fire hardiness here in the Pacific Northwest.

Everywhere you look at this Solaire built legacy home is a nod to timeless design, classic durable finishes, and a commitment to healthier living for our clients. The location and features make this a perfect forever home for our retiree homeowners.
