SolAire Homebuilders Vidas-Staley Residence Named Green Building Project of the Year
National Association of Home Builders Honors Mike O’Neil, President SolAire Homebuilders
WASHINGTON, DC May 12—The National Association of Home
Builders has named the SolAire Homebuilders Vidas-Staley
Residence as its Green Building 2009 Project of the Year
– Single Family Luxury/Custom. The association honored
SolAire Homebuilders at the 11th Annual NAHB National Green
Building Conference in DALLUS.
The Vidas-Staley Residence is the first LEED Platinum home
certified in all of Central Oregon. Built to illustrate
that sustainable building can be found in the form of
traditional Prairie style architecture, the owner/designer Mary
Louise Vidas chose experienced SolAire Homebuilders to build
her green home in 2008. SolAire has been building green
custom homes on their client’s land since 1995 and
proudly endorses sustainable building in every project they
undertake. This home boasts an extremely energy efficient
home envelope, solar electric panels, solar hot water panels,
high efficiency heating equipment, efficient lighting, and a
whole house clean air ventilation system. The home
contains many amenities that Central Oregon residents have come
to expect in a custom home: travertine tile and hickory
hardwood flooring, radiant in-floor heat, custom alder low VOC
cabinets, colorful paperstone countertops, custom tiled showers
and tub surrounds, hardwood clear finish trim, open living plan
and abundant natural light.
“SolAire Homebuilders shows how far residential
green building has come,” said Eric Borsting, chair of
the NAHB Green Building Subcommittee. “This project
is a great illustration of sustainable, environmentally
responsible construction and a good example for our members as
NAHB continues to lead green building into the
mainstream.”
“We are very pleased to win a national award of this
significance for our green building practices and custom built
homes,” reveals Mike O’Neil, President of
SolAire. “We are building homes that inspire
sustainable living now, and for the future. We are
especially honored that the award aligns with our company
values and purpose.”
